Go Vegan
In India, mostly vegetarians are lacto vegetarians, we do come across very few Vegans. People here are ignorant about animal abuse and animal ingredients in so many food stuffs & clothing and other accessories. Cruelty against animal are going up everywhere here too. People need to be educated regarding Vegan life to stop these cruelties, which requires promotion and education of vegan life (healthy life-Compassionate life). We have taken an initiative to change the food habits, clothing pattern, accessories of the follower of vegetarians (veggies) and non Vegetarians both .After enjoying Jain dietary codes and Vegan life (Animal free food and clothing &accessories) we have commenced a Vegan education Center in Indore, and we hope to make it a big success. Promotion of this first useful website on "Vegan and compassionate life" in India is one of its part also and a milestone towards it.

Spreading Compassionate Life Style

I am a 41 year old male, an accountant by profession and a teacher by pursuit. I am living in Goa, the venue of 37th IVU World Vegetarian Congress from Sep.10 to 16, 2006. I am looking forward to meet many vegans during that time. Anybody wanting to come to the congress may visit ivu.org or can contact me directly. All are welcome. Right from my childhood, I was influenced by Mahatma Gandhiji’s principle of non-violence. When I grew up, I was worried about the violence taking place around me in our societies. Later, as I thought about it more and more, I found a newer dimension to the meaning of the word ‘violence’ than the one I had visualized earlier. To my horror, I realized that violence is taking place not just in human society but there is also organized violence and exploitation against all animals perpetrated by human race in the name of civilization and plundering of environment to the detriment of our own peaceful existence. As a panacea for all these evils, I found a way of living which is cruelty free and very close to nature. I realised later that my lifestyle is called veganism and I am called a vegan. Thus, I became a vegan and have been so for more than 18 years now. Vegan World is my endeavor to educate our fellow human beings on cruelty in everyday life, how one can help to make a difference by being a more kind & compassionate person and bring together all vegans especially those living in India under one umbrella to make the world a better place to live for all sentient beings including human beings. So far I have done some work in this field. I have written 2 small books on this subject (one in Kannada and one in English) and publicized the concepts of non-violence and veganism among my family, friends, contacts, students etc. I have also given lectures on the subject in schools and Rotary Clubs. A number of people have found reason in my viewpoints and changed their lifestyle to be a vegan. It is a big ocean, lot more to be done. I have miles to go before I sleep. This is a very good forum to meet Indian vegans. Thank you Manish for providing this opportunity for all of us. All are invited to contact me on vegan or any other subjects.

My name is Alice Mantrica, I'm from Kolkata, West Bengal and am 17 years old .I became a Vegetarian when i was 14 and a Vegan when 15.

I became a vegan because i realised that that Veganism means GOOD HEALTH. Till 15 I was using leather, silk, milk and milk based foods( which contain disease causing fear based hormones, blood and pus) and harmful cosmetics (which contain animal fats)...but i felt like a complete hypocrite and not a real vegetarian at all. I also realised what what I was doing was completely unethical and very UNHEALTHY.

I also used to suffer from chronic illnesses since childhood and no doctor or allopathic medicine could cure me. With a Vegan diet I have cured myself completely. It was full nature cure for I took NO medicines at all.

Not only do I feel secure and at peace with God and myself for living an ethical and healthy life ,but have noticed many of my latent talents coming to the fore after I changed to a 100%VEGAN diet and lifestyle. I find such beauty and inspiration in Mother Nature.

Well, after all Veganism is really True Vegetarianism and is the diet and lifestyle for any follower of AHIMSA !

My email id is molevegan@yahoo.com

Am waiting to meet more vegans like me.
